Teaching English Using the UNSDGs

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals are having quite the impact on not only the awareness of sustainability issues but also how we understand and teach about those issues. In this talk, I will show how I and some of my colleagues use the UNSDGs to teach English. Our fundamental mission is to get students comfortable owning their message using the English they have and not overcomplicating the learning process. At the same time, we want to broaden their horizons with content that will be critical to their futures. 

Speaker Bio:

Wayne Malcolm is a senior lecturer at Fukuui University of Technology. He has a doctorate of education focusing on leadership, curriculum and instruction. His main research interests are global competence, task- and project-based learning, and communicative language teaching practices.
