理系大学のTOEICの授業における 自立英語学習支援の取り組み －学習方法，学習支援システム，語彙学習アプリを用いて－ 山﨑亜矢（YAMASAKI Aya） 高知工科大学 Abstract Motivation is crucial for learning a language. However, most non-English majors at university generally lack confidence in learning English because of their English proficiency levels and are uncertain about their learning progress and how to study English effectively, which can lead to demotivation in learning the target language (Tsumura, 2010). Therefore, teachers must establish a learning environment where they can study individually outside class. Mikulecky (2011) argues that instruction in specific learning techniques like scanning and speed reading can facilitate their language learning. These learning methods can be adapted for students’ self-study outside class. Learning management systems and language learning apps are also helpful for following students’ learning progress and for enhancing their awareness of the areas they need to focus on in studying English. Given the benefits of both ICT and practical learning methods in a class, combining them can increase students’ motivation and autonomy as learners.
